Once Upon a Time in the West
I like how the guy describes this western in such detail. It makes me want to watch this movie. It's interesting that he notices that each character has their own theme song whenever they are shown in the western. This movie is sort of choreographed by the music and that is the main focus of the film. It is one of the first movies that the music fit the image of the movie. I liked this little explanation of the movie but I had a few questions that were not answered. Who is Henry Fonda and why is he so important? And what is a spaghetti western?

Excellent--I'm hoping that seeing how Frayling talks about movies and the choices helps you all see more in the films we watch, too, and thereby helps you have more ways to write about them (muscial choices, use of light and dark, type of shot, etc).
ReplyDeleteSpaghetti western is a term used to describe the western genre films made in Italy by Italian directors. No one knows who coined the term, but it's assumed that whoever said it meant the term to be disparaging.
I thought it was interesting how each character had a theme song also and not only that but the mucis in general fit the movie scenes so well!
